Subframe editing in PP 5.5 – a la subframe editing in FCP 7
I’m moving over from FCP7 to PP5.5, and so far I’m a big fan. However, there is a great feature in FCP that I use a LOT but can’t seem to duplicate in PP, so I’m looking for some help.
In FCP, I can double click on an audio track to open it up in the browser. Then, I can zoom in to the point where I can hold the shift key down while scrubbing in 1/100 frame increments. I then can find that 1/100th frame between, say, a breath and a word, press “I” for in point in the browser, and it will instantly and automatically set the input of that clip on the timeline, trimming both the audio and the video. This is particularly handy because the waveform is so big in the browser that it’s easy to get close to the exact subframe.
Seems that in PP I have to click through with Display Audio Units checked and make my adjustment in the timeline using the ripple edit tool or the like. If I scrub through the waveform in the browser, I can find that tiny little point, but editing it there doesn’t seem to do anything to the clip in the timeline. The waveform in the timeline is just too small. So, is there a way to edit in subframe increments in the browser in such a way in PP?
(Note: When I have tried this in PP just to see if it worked the same way, it made seemingly random trim points along the timeline. Couldn’t figure out its logic on that one).
Thanks in advance!
