I’m in the process of transitioning from Final Cut Pro (which I’ve been using for over a decade) to Premiere Pro. For the most part I’m happy and find the skill set is quickly transferable. Edited my first piece today and loved that I didn’t have to create massive ProRes files off my cards to edit – major time saver there (and I’m on an old MacPro so was astonished it actually worked flawlessly)

The only drawback I’ve encountered so far with switching over to Premiere Pro is the woeful lack of transitions that come with the program. And what is a bit worrisome is that most of what I’m finding (or already had) that has Adobe versions is geared towards exporting the footage to After Effects and doing the transitions there. Or in the case of Boris, putting a transition on a clip on a separate layer than the second clip and key framing the transition (which seems like a huge amount of time versus simply clicking and applying…or even dragging and dropping).

If anybody can recommend transitions that are more in keeping with what I’m used to (CGM or various File Factory purchases) I’d be most appreciative.

(And just found the lengthy thread regarding how there seems to be a dearth of transitions available due to…Apple not playing well at present it sounds like. Looks like upgrading my ancient version of Red and finally learning it is on the horizon…)

    Thanks!

Here’s a set of new freebies (the full set is $19.99, but there are 4 which are free) that add some nice, if common, transitions:

I tested and then purchased ProDad Vitascsne LE 2.0 this year that works well with CS5.5. They provide both FX and Transitions and you can test/purchase other extensive packages from them.I have used them in a variety of promotional and industrial productions that specifically wanted a particular look.
