Tip for all Quadro users
I recently bought a Quadro 4000 for my MP and had all sorts of intermittent issues, anyway I had to send the card back to PNY because I had registered it and B&H could not replace it after that,
Like everyone I couldn’t believe my card was bad, but after all kinds of testing with Apple no less (they were pretty good) i had to send it back. I had heard all sorts of complaints about their support, but that was not the case at all.
Don’t try to get an RMA of their Site or call their posted PH #. Call 1-800-230-0103. They answer live saying Quadro (no answering tree) you’ll get all your questions answered an RMA the whole lot. They get a big Gold Star in my book.

I might not have been real clear, they are a complete support center anything you need to know, what card you should get for whatever platform, how it works, repair assistance for their whole lineup. No need to call anyone else, I didn’t need to do anything else for RMA they took care of it all. I don’t know anyone who does that anymore.

what kind of problems did you have Don?
One of my macs with quadro 4000 randomly locks up.
the display is frozen, caps lock and mouse don’t workbut if a file was copying the indicator lights are still flashing and
it completes.I think it “might” be my quadro causing it.

Chris, I listed the issues in an early post, you’ll have to look I don’t know how to reference to you. But
It all sounds familiar (screen freeze). it was very erratic in the beginning so there is nothing that would make sense, it came latter when the behavior was consistent. Like you it is hard to believe its the card, what, we won the lottery, it was just waiting for us to order it.
First, I had a really good Apple engineer in Austin, TX. he’d call me back after every time I had to change out the card, the first thing he had me do was disconnect everything from the CPU and pull the Power Plug, then hold the power key for 5 seconds, it discharges capacitors to the ground planes and when you plug back in the ground will drain it off. (provided your system is grounded). Something I didn’t know.
I was also fortunate he is a CS user and only works at Apple part time.
The last symptom was the system freezing after startup in about a minute, I had to restart via the power switch and I left the activity monitor on to see if only the mouse or keyboard were disengaged but the system froze CPU stuck and no R/W on disk.
The only thing I couldn’t do was move the card to different platform and see it the problem followed. I went over everything with the PNY Rep and he told me to send in the card, I would just be spinning wheels there was nothing more to do with the setup I have, but it sounds like you have other systems so you can swap out the card. I was planning on doing the swap out to my other system before
doing a complete rebuild/install. -
I’m having the same issue, we have 3 edit bays (3 different intel model macs) and bought 3 quadro 4000’s. Best I can tell the cards work great on the 2 oldest Macs, but the newest Mac just won’t have anything to do with the 4000. I have tried 2 different cards with no success. It eventually locks up just like others have described. I have tried putting the cards in every available slot, tried different drivers, even removed every other card in the system, removed the drivers for those and I keep getting the same result. I’ve even tried reformatting and doing a clean install, and the same result. I tried the # listed above, but it does not appear to be working. Meanwhile Windows has about 20 different cards that can do the same or better job.
