    Hi
Recenly discovered that I may be able to double the amount of RAM on my mid 2011 iMac. Currently have 16GB (4X4gB) installed, which, according to Apple is the maximum amount you can install.

But, listening to a recent digital convergence podcast it was mentioned you are able to install up to 32 gb(4X8).

Has anyone reading this done this?

Is there a chance of damaging my iMac in any way by installing more than the recommended amount of RAM?

Been done many times, and no chance of damage whatsoever (above and beyond any damage from poorly installed RAM of any size – which is itself exceptionally hard to damage with the simplicity of the iMac upgrade procedure.)
