Pro video transitions not working
I’ve just installed CS5.5 on a second computer. On the first computer, there is not an issue, but on this second one when I put in a video transition (cross dissolve or anything) the video disappears during the duration of the transition (goes to black – and not even fading to black – just drops immediately to black). This happens regardless of which video track the footage is on, but it does not happen with titles or stills. When we burn the DVD thru Encore, it burns correctly with the proper transitions in place. I have checked the settings as best as I can and can’t figure out why it’s doing it on this one and not on the other computer. Any ideas would be helpful!

Did you update to 5.5.2.

I updated Pro and that did not help. However, I rendered the timeline and the transitions are now behaving as they should. But do you have any ideas on why this is causing this? I don’t have to render on my other computer for the transitions to not misbehave…do you suppose my hardware acceleration is off or something else within my computer? (it’s a brand new HP Intel Core i7-2600 CPU with 8GB ram and 64-bit Windows 7 operating system)

I would guess that it is a due to the type of footage you are trying to playback and the graphics card in your machine that is trying to do the playback.
Some footage is very processing intensive to play without rendering. Most professional systems can achieve real time rendering by leveraging the graphics card for those processor intensive stuff.
What type of footage? File type? Codec?
