Hi – I’ve been away from editing for a number of years. Thankfully now back but have problem I don’t seem able to resolve.
I have a mixture of video for same project – all 16:9 – but some DV, some DVCAM and some (about 65%) in HD 1080ip – shot with Sony HVR Z5. I will be exporting to DVD so at some time have to down convert but thought that best after project complete.
What project settings? Can I capture all in one project or do I need different project for each type – given I have to set CAPTURE FORMAT?
What should my SEQUENCE PRESET BE?

An outline of WORKFLOW for this would be very, very, very much appreciated!!

Thankyou – Jan in Glenrowan, Australia

Work in a DV preset that matches the properties of what you plan to export to for DVD. All the HD material can be autoscaled with “Scale to Frame” option in preferences before importing it. The feature can be manually added to clips after they’ve been imported and given that the preferences weren’t in place. Select them in the edit and right click to see the “Scale to Frame” option.

    Cheers JB 🙂

Thanks John. Still just a little unclear about the workflow?
Do I capture them all as SD (720) even though some are HD in the one project if the output is DVD? When does the scale to frame occur?
    Sorry to be dumb…

    Kind Regards Jan
