Advanced Metadata Questions – for DaVinci.
Hello All –
I am an experienced Premiere editor, so I know the basics of how Premiere handles metadata, but I have some specific questions. I am getting ready to take my first LARGE (feature) project from Premiere into DaVinci, and want to make sure it’ll be painless.
It’s my understanding that DaVinci relies heavily on reel names and numbers, which are especially relevant when you’re dealing with DSLR footage that repeats non-unique filenames (I literally have 5 or 6 of the same named clips!)
I understand that you can set reels manually in Premiere, but with 5000 clips, that would be torture.
So, I’m curious if the metadata assigned in premiere is simply assigned to the clip in the project, or does it write the metadata to the file? Also, if I modify and assign metadata after the files have been imported into the project – if I change the file metadata now (using an external program like Bridge or QTChange) – will it modify the metadata in the project and, in turn, the metadata for the XMLs that I export?
Thanks
