Sorry if this seems basic… I’m still learning the ropes of premiere.

I am looking for a way to scale multiple clips to fit into my project.

Problem: I am making a 720 x 480 video using tapes from a HDV camcorder. The B footage was shot on an HD camera at 1080… I am scaling down all the 1080 clips to fit the 720 individually – There has to be a faster way to do it.

Any help will be much appreciated!

    Thank You!

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

In Preferences, there is a checkbox for “Scale to frame size”. Check this, and then all clips will scale to project size upon import. Note this does NOT affect clips already imported, you would need to remove from bin, then import again, or just right-click clips on timeline one by one and select scale to frame there. No need to use “motion” effect if that is how you are doing it now.

You didn’t say if working with a 4:3 or 16:9 DV project. If 4:3 and you don’t want letterboxing, then you would need to use Motion and scale the clips up a bit to fill the screen. This can then be copied/pasted across multiple clips easily.

I see one problem with this, when i double click the scaled sequence in the the timeline it opens the sequence in a cropped window. The org sequence is 1920×1080 its placed in a video of 720×406.

    How can i change this
