    Hello Cow Team.

I am having a lot of trouble with Premiere CS5.5

I am running an Intel i7 860 with 16gb of Ram. Windows 7.

I have an Nvidia GTX 460 graphics card.

Every time I launch Adobe Premiere CS5.5, the premiere says it has encountered a serious error and must shut down.

I have even re installed Premiere and can still not figure it out.

If anyone can help me with this as soon as possible I would really appreciate it. I have some time sensitive work that must get done.

    Thanks a lot.

    Some more info:

When it closes it leaves up a DroverLords tab that is frozen.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my graphics card.

    Still not getting anywhere.

Have you tried clearing your preferences?

What exact version of Premiere Pro? I.e., have you installed the recent updates ( https://adobe.ly/lsrkmJ )?

    Any third-party plug-ins installed?

Have you updated your graphics drivers?

As Tero suggested, it’s a good idea to clear your preferences when trying to work past an issue like this.

Same here. I tried everything suggested. I only need to hover my mouse over any part of the Effects Panel and it crashes, but only after a short pause. My temporary workaround is to open the Effects Panel when needed, quickly locate the effect, apply it, and close the panel. If it doesn’t crash, save the project. Not ideal, but desperate times = desperate measures. Hope a fix comes soon.

    Hello,

This problem is just started happening to me. Any updates or a fix for this yet?

    Cheers

Just the same problem here. I have been uninstalling and installing PP CS 5.5 for a couple of times and it was solved after a radical uninstall first, but it came back after a few weeks. We really need an update, but as CS6 is out now, Adobe probably don’t look after problems with previous editions. Though, that would be nice, since we then also know they do something with crash reports.

Did the topic starter probably solve the problem?

    Forgot to mention the system:

    iMac 27
    i7 2600
    16 GB
    OS X 10.7.4

I’m having the exact same problem on my Windows 7 machine- running CS 5.0.3. I’ve tried reinstalling Premiere, uninstalling all my 3rd party plugins, updating my graphics card driving, deleting preferences. Nothing helped. Crash every time I click on the Effects tab.

After all, I got rid of the error, probably caused by some 3rd party plugins. After uninstalling all those extra plugins (which go very deep) my system runs fine.

Hmm..I already uninstalled all my “premiere” 3rd party plugins, though I might still have some AE ones installed. I’ll give it another shot.
