monitoring via gtx560
I’ve just built a new rig for cs5.5 – i72600k, 16gb ram, gtx 560 etc.
It’s just for ‘offline’ editing really, i finish projects at my local post house. However I want to set up a 2nd monitor for playing back cuts from the timeline in prem pro for my colleagues to view in my little suite.
I’ve tried to do this for the first time by attaching an lcd tv via the second dvi output on my gtx 560 gpu. It’s fine and plays nicely in sync, but I notice the image doesn’t playback totally smoothly. If there’s even a modicum of movement, the image distorts slightly – specifically by 2 or 3 lines appearing (actually they’re more like fine razor cuts if you get my drift) in the playback image.
I had this on my previous (laptop) set up on cs4, but put it down to my poky laptop and poor gpu on it.
I was surprised to see it though on my new rig with this gpu. It’s not a field dominance issue (looks nothing like that usually does), and also happens if I export a movie and playback on this system with most media software (but not quicktime player, interestingly). Again, given my gpu and processor, this is a surprise.
I can’t take a grab of it as if you pause or go through frame by frame it doesn’t appear. It also appears in the program monitor panel in my main premiere editing workspace.
Is it normal?
Do I have somehting set up wrong in premiere or windows 7/nvidia control panel?
Should I not even attempt to monitor from my gpu? Would this disapear if I bought a capture card and sent a hdmi/sdi signal from that to a monitor?
Hope that all makes sense. Thanks in advance.
