We use FCP and use log and transfer to convert our 5D footage to Prores and it sees the timecode metadata so it imports the time of day timecode we usually shoot. Our Zoom recorder also records time of day so we get a close timecode match between the audio and 5D files.

If you just drag the H264 clips into Premier each clip’s timecode starts at 00:00:00.

What is the proper way to edit with native media but also retain the time of day timecode we use?
