Hi to all the AE genius’ out there,

I am in need of exporting my AE project to tape (mini DV) as the final delivery format. Normally i render the movie out to my computer and burn to dvd, but need to preserve quality as it is for television, and am sure that there must be a way to export the movie without compressing it heaps.

If anyone can assist with this, well, much obliged.

    Cheers,
    Dan

Basically, you cant export to tape from after effects. You can render your project to a file then use premiere or any editing software to export to tape. However, if you have a really fast system, you can use AE’s RAM preview to export to tape (using also the firewire output of AE). Check if your system is up to it. Make a ram preview and see if its playing all the frames consistently. If it does, then you could export to tape. I wouldnt recommend it as a good practice though.

Yeah, I usually render a lossless .avi, then export it to tape from Premiere Pro. It works well for me.
