Premiere Pro freezes when I try to copy and paste text into title
Looked through the forums and didn’t see this particular problem addressed. I work for an Army public affairs office and any news story I write and edit must have sub-titles for the hearing impaired. I have generally written my script (and transcribed sound bites) in Microsoft Word. I set up my font style in the titler in premiere pro I then then copy and paste the portion of text that I want in that particular title. Often, Premiere freezes, and I have to wait up to a minute or more before I can copy it into the title. It seems Premiere doesn’t want to “play nice” with the other program (or vice versa). It doesn’t do it every time, but often enough to be a real bother.
I thought it might be having problems with the rich text, but I tried Notepad and it does the same thing. I also tried InDesign, and the same hangup. Any suggestions would be appreciated.I am running version 5.0.3 on a Dell studio xps laptop with Intel Core i7 and 6 GB of ram.

Does this happen on all of your computers, or just this one?
What operating system?
Are you running other software at the same time? (I’m most interested in anti-virus/security software.)

It’s only on this one computer. Running Windows 7 Professional. Anti-virus is Symantec Endpoint Protection. It came with the computer.

Try disabling the security software (while disconnected from the Internet, of course).

Sweet! I get the little blue circle instead of the arrow (while it’s “thinking”)for about a second….and then I’m good to go! Awesome! Thanks so much for the help!

Symantec needs to be yanked off your computer…their software is very intrusive and it affects all sorts of applications, but I’ve found video editing apps to be particularly vulnerable.
I switched away from it some years ago after I switched to Windows.
You might try McAfee…that seems to work well on all my editing computers
