    Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well and can give me a little insight on what I may be doing wrong in my set up for monitoring on a second monitor and a firewire monitoring.

    System 1 configuration:
Mac Pro 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-core Intel Xeon (westmere)
    Apple 27″ Cinema Display
    Alienware 2310 Display
    12gb ram
    OS 10.7.2
    ATI Radeon HD5770
    Nvidea Quadro 4000
    Premiere Pro CS 5.5

    System 2 configuration:
iMac 2.66 GHZ Intel Core i5
    Alienware 2310 Display
    4gb Ram
    OS 10.7.2
    Premiere Pro CS5.5

4TB raid drive connected via firewire 800.

    Datavideo DAC-05 Video Converter

Recently I upgraded to the Mac Pro from the iMac. I had Premiere doing a playback setting to either the Alienware screen for HD material or through the firewire to the DAC for SD material. The firewire was daisy chained iMac to RAID to DAC to Monitor. Surprisingly this worked pretty ok and got the job done.

Now that I have the Mac Pro I can get the Alienware monitoring for HD material no problem and I’m fairly happy with that. Trying to monitor SD material on the Alienware HD screen is a problem as the preview is stretched to fit the screen (height wise) and looks like rubbish and I can’t figure out how to get it to be SD size when I have an SD timeline and HD size when I have an HD timeline. I never had this issue when dealing with FCP. Any thoughts or ideas on how to get this to act more FCP like?

Now onto the firewire issue…when I try and get the DAC to monitor the timeline via firewire there is nothing (this is using the DV out option on playback settings). I was figuring since the Mac Pro has more firewire ports that it shouldn’t be a problem, but for some reason it isn’t working. Is their something in the playback setting that I’m missing for both of these issues?

Any help or advice would be great and much appreciated.

    Cheers
