I have a Sequence in PPCS4 containing raw footage I’ve shot and an AE project file I’ve dynamic linked into the timeline. The AE project file contains a lower third graphic I’m incorporating into the RAW footage I’m editing.

However, when I drag it into the timeline and overlay it onto my raw footage, it does not appear in the Monitor Window, even though it’s clearly visible in the timeline. HOWEVER, the strange thing this is if I open the Effect Panel and click “Motion” while the Dynamically Linked AE project file is selected in the timeline, POOF, it magically appears. But as soon as I click off and deselect it in the Effects Control, it’s gone again.

Is this an issue with the Dynamic Link? If so, is there something in my system configuration I can do to make it work correctly? This isn’t the only project Dynamic Link has given me issues with.

FYI, here are my system specs:

    PP CS4
    AMD Dual Core
    4GB RAM
1GB RAM installed on GeForce video card
1.5TB HDD with large page file

    Any thoughts?

Usually, problems like this are a result of old preview files. I’d suggest clearing those for a start. (If i remember correctly it’s in the Sequence menu.)

When you open the motion properties, PP starts generating the image in the monitor window in real time so that you can see what you’re doing. When you leave the motion tab, PP goes back to the cashed preview, and the problem comes back.
