I have a Canon XH A1 and I use Premiere Pro to capture. I just got a new laptop that has no firewire ports and no express card slots. But, I have two USB 3.0 ports. Does anyone know of a way to get the video captured besides a firewire connection?

    Thanks

Firewire is the only way to capture footage of this camera.

The BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle is an external capture device that connects via USB 3.0, but from what I read it is kind of picky about which USB 3.0 chipsets it works with. You’d be able to capture via analog connections, as I looked at your camera specs and don’t see HDMI.

I spoke with B%H and they said that Canon partnered with Focus to come up with a solution.

Just don’t feel like shelling out $1000 for a camera solution that I plan to upgrade to AVCHD in the next six months.

I think I have an old laptop that has the DV (4 pin firewire) port so I could go 4pin FW to 4pin FW.

    Thanks for the replies.
