I’m using Premiere CS4 along with the media encoder. I’m trying to outpout sample clips from a 3 hour long video show on the timeline.
All of a sudden, the encoder won’t show the preview window (yes, it is turned on) and it won’t really do much of anything. It takes very long to even encode a 2 minute clip!

The file location shows it’s the C drive. But all of my files are on my D drive (C drive is actually partitioned). I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premeire and all related stuff. That’s another story, as after the install it says that the install failed, yet everything appears to be there.

Any other video project or clip, encodes just fine. It seems to be this 3 hour video that is giving me problems. Any ideas?

I sure liked CS2 and not having this GD media encoder!

    Thanks,
    Phil

    1. Are you given any error message at all or does it just stall?
    2. What codec are you using to encode?
    3. Is there anything new about this timeline other than length that is not in your other projects? Footage encoded with exotic codecs, heavy After Effects link-ins, etc?
    4. When AME stalls, can you look at how much system ram is currently used? It may be maxed out.

Those are a few questions to start the troubleshooting process.

Thanks for the response! I worked it out for the most part. I did nothing out of the ordinary. No AE stuff or anything. The codec I was using was Microsoft avi, which is what I use as standard video for my timelines, which doesn’t have to be rendered when inserted.
