I’ve been using PPRO in it’s various versions and have been very satisfied with it.
While I’ve made good use of the various “effects”, I’ve never worked with the various color correction and modifier tools to enhance the raw video beyond a goose here and there.

Now on CS5.5, I’m moving more in that direction, wanting to do stuff like add a late summer afternoon look to a scene etc.

Downloaded a couple of trial version of software like Magic Bullet Looks etc, but did not find the presets at least to be very useful.

My question is, does CS5.5 have enough tools to allow me a reasonable degree of adjustment for non-commercial work if I work at it or would additional software give me capabilities light years beyond what I can do with the basic product given time and experimentation?

    Thanks for any input. JR

    Jack –

You don’t say whether you have After Effects in your arsenal, so I would assume you don’t. That would be my first suggestion – the possibilities are endless with AE.

You should certainly be able to achieve just about any color correction effect without third party plugins or AE. The question is – do you want to learn how to do it, or do you just want a plugin to choose a canned effect? I would suggest getting under the hood, because it will open up a whole world of capabilites in PPro. Here’s a start:

Thanks, sounds like I can roll my own within PPro cs5.5 Good news because I didn’t find the presets in the various trial versions I downloaded of other programs to be very impressive.
    thanks for the input
