Best way to report bugs
Hey guys,
I’m new to Premiere having moved from FCP. Finding plenty of bugs in CS5.5 on the Mac and was wondering what the best way to document them, and where to send them. Is it this forum?
Also was wondering if there are log capturing or any other bug catching apps useful for the Adobe engineers when communicating bugs to them?

Happy to use the form, but I must say it’s a little discouraging and I probably won’t bother for the following reasons:
There’s no way to send you example projects, logs, photos or videos of problems encountered.
There’s no way to keep track of bugs, or to know what been documented in the past to avoid double handling. From I can tell its not a portal to community of testers – more like a help desk where complaints are logged.There’s a lot of work that goes into bug reporting, and these services need to be addressed before it’s worth the effort IMHO.

If you indicate in the report that you have such assets to send, we will respond with an email address to send such files.
We don’t respond to every report, since we get so many feature requests and reports through this system.
I can assure you that the Premiere Pro quality engineering team actually reads and uses every one of these reports. (I’m actually the person who processes all of them for After Effects.)

For us, getting a report of the same issue twice (or more times) from different sources is valuable information, since it tells us something about the frequency and severity of the issue.

Thanks for clearing that up – I will use accordingly.
Interesting your point about using multiple reports to assess brevity of the problem.I would wager one well documented bug report would beat 1000 bad ones, and could save your logging time. Just a thought.
Also -it’s great to have Adobe staff on this forum. Much appreciated!

It seems that, currently, all links to the bug reporting form for Adobe are broken (https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&loc=en).
And when I open my Adobe account and view the Adobe Bugbase, I can’t report any bugs for most Adobe products (pulldown only lists a few Adobe aps)… and none of the previous bugs I’ve reported are listed there.
Where should I report bugs and where can I view the bugs I’ve reported? I’ve never received ANY feedback from bugs I’ve reported (using that bug form everyone directed me to in the past) and it feels like I’m wasting my time completely.

Just because we don’t give feedback for all bugs that come in doesn’t mean that you’re wasting your time. We only respond when we need more details, etc.
I can say with utmost certainty that someone reads every bug report that comes in for the Adobe video applications. I can say that because it’s a rotating role that I’ve done recently for After Effects, and I know (and trust) the folks doing it now.
We put much more urgency behind fixing bugs that are reported through the public bug form than ones that we find internally because we figure that bugs that y’all are encountering are the most important to deal with.
