    Hi all,

Strange issue going on since yesterday afternoon. I just started a new project using 1080i P2 and Ikegami media, from which projects have been successfully completed many times in PPro. As I started to prepare to cut, I first laid out my VO and was able to view the waveforms and select edit points in the source monitor without any issue. I started to double click imported media to load in the source monitor, and can’t seem to get any sort of image or playback of any clip. I’ve tried loading it several different ways to no avail. If the clip is dragged and dropped from the source monitor into the timeline, the clip is visible and plays back in the program monitor.

I’ve tried closing/reopening PPro, restarting and shutting down the tower etc., performed an Adobe production suite update and opening alternate PPro projects with the same media type and sequence format DVCProHD, but all to no avail.

It is functioning properly at least per an initial test with an old SD 4:3 project.

I can certainly edit in the timeline, but it is so much faster to use the source monitor and edit points.

    Thoughts anyone?

I believe that we’ve had the same problem for over a year without solution. Try this…

Load a clip into the Source Monitor
Switch to the Timeline and play it for a second or two.
Switch back to the Source Monitor and see if it will play now.

If so, you have the same issue we’ve had. We’re hoping that upgrading to CS5.5 or whatever’s next will take care of it.

Try trashing the prefs for PrP. I had something happen similar to you and trashing cleared it right up. Worth a try.

I had my record monitor lockup and hold onto a frame without updating. In this case restarting did fix it but I also found if I closed the record monitor and re-opened it, it went back to normal.

BTW Tom how do you trash prefs in PPro?

Hold down the ”Shift” ”Contol” (Command for Mac) and ”Alt” Keys together as soon as you launch PPro and let go after it has finished loading into the first new or open project screen.

I been having this problem since day one with PP. I can’t seem to load any “low end” sources into the Source monitor with any consistency. Low res .flv files (iStock watermarked) and stills other then .PSDs load into the source monitor but do not display – that is the entire monitor is black. However, I can insert the media into the timeline from the black source window. So the media definitely gets loaded into the source monitor but fails to display properly. When I trash my prefs the first couple of clips work fine but then it’s all black very quickly. Toggling back and forth from the timeline back to the source monitor works a very small amount of time.

Am I missing something here? Is there a “please display stills and all video in the source window” check box I’m missing?

    Any help is much appreciated.
