    Hello,

I sent some clips to AE via dynamic link and the color changes I made in PPro are not reflected in the AE project. This is in 5.5 Produciton Premium. Do I have to do that composite within a composite thing?

If so, that is a glaring oversight. Dynamic link is supposed to make things easier than that.

Also, can I copy a clips color grade to another clip as I can in Apple’s Color? I have searched for this but am not finding an answer.

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Yes…

select the clip with the effects on it you want…

then select the destination clip and choose “Paste Attributes”

    Also….

    I’m curious….

what method are you using to create the dymnamic link?

    “Replace with Comp”

I could be that while the media is getting passed, the filter is not…as long as the CC filter you are using is available in both apps you should be able to copy and paste it between the two….

so select the clip in ppro sequence, select the CC filter in the Effects Controls Panel, COPY

Jump to AE open the select the comp and see if you can PASTE the filter.

If it’s not doing this, I agree it’s quite an annoying oversight….definitely worthy of feature request.

[Alex Udell] “select the clip with the effects on it you want…

then select the destination clip and choose “Paste Attributes””

To be clear, I need to make sure the first one stays selected while selecting the destination?

    Thanks,

    Yes.

Good point. I believe I used the Fast Color Correcter to ballpark the clips for review. I will look to see if that is available in AE. It would appear the previous step of using Auto Color does show in some of the clips as it does a weird color cycle anomaly.

Which brings up another oversight, the PPro tools should be available in AE for proper round tripping.

    Thanks,
    Robert

    nope…

once you’ve selected it and chosen copy….

    it’s in the copy buffer.

then you can select the destination clip(s) without the source still being selected…

Duh! Normal copy and past scenario.

    Thanks:-)
