I’m still running PPro CS3 Production Premium pkg on winXP sp3. I kno I know. Hey it works for my needs I guess. I recently did a system reinstall to clean things up and it worked fine for about a week. Then I had a sudden crash and now when I boot up now it goes thru the purple load screen/momentarily flashes the tools/and then its gone. I did some searching and many said it may be a codec issue but then I discovered it will run if I run it as the computer Admin. Can’t figure this one out. Thanks in advance

It sounds like your login credentials may have been a casualty of the crash. Do you have other software that has become uncooperative?

The Admin fix did not work for me:
Prem Pro CS3 will not start in other accounts.

Many other instances of Prem Pro CS3 not starting –

In my case Prem starts through the splash, at least I can see the top 2 Prem taskbars – then boom out go the lights – back to WinXP3 desktop. I’ve gone through a huge set of tests based on Adobe knowledge base docs and others. But nada.

So…are you opening a new project or an existing project? have you tried reinstalling the application? Has there been an OS or peripheral driver update to the system lately?

…all the usual troubleshooting…RAM check out?

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for asking-
Can not open any project – PPro will only show me the splash.

Have tried reinstall- 2 different ways – either as a “repair” or a remove and complete new PPro install.

Has there been an OS or peripheral driver update to the system
    lately?-
Yes many things have changed- but I am simplifing system -taking more and more unneeded software out. Trying to streamline it.

WinXP3Pro 32bit, HP xw9300, Blackmagic HD, Nvidia 3500, all in seeming good order, drivers happy.

But all other CS3 works fine, After FX, PSD are happy.

There is one version of Quadro drivers that completely prevented me from opening a timeline is PPro CS4… I can’t remember what version that was, but I winder if you were to changer the NVIDIA Quadro drivers one version forward or back…?

My version of Quadro 3500 drivers is 191, – arrived at after many tests to get compatible with Blackmagic Decklink HD Extrm card.
I tried drivers forward and back, 191 is stable. Seems like I’ve tried everything else…

RAM? – you mentioned earlier- I had 8G but dropped to 4G to get past the bigger crash I had earlier due to IE malware and pdf ver9 files.
Does PPro care if I have reduced the RAM total from one start up to the next? Or from one install to the next?

Anyway found a long list of older Creative COW postings. I’ll try those next- maybe another version of the Admin trick?

    Cheers,
    n2

or do a WinXP repair – could be a corrupt dll file.

Amazing! It’s a miracle! Deleting the “workspaceconfig.xml” file got me up and running again!
    Thanks
