    Hi guys,
I am dropping FCP and returning to Premiere.
I have an 8 core mac pro and will upgrade to a PC in a year or two, but in the meantime, wanted to get a mercury engine nvidia graphics card that could run on both Mac and PC.

I may use my Mac Pro to run Win7 but would still want to use OSX for old FCP projects and moving things across to Premiere.

What is the best Nvidia graphics card I could buy for approx $1000 works on MacPro on both PC and Mac? There a lot of models out there and the specs are very confusing. Quadro 4000 has two models one for pc one for mac but it seems the mac version can run with boot camp on a pc… which might be the answer for a year or two?

    Thanks!
    Mark.

i’m getting all kinds of conflicting advise on this.

i just spoke to Adobe, no less, and they told me the specs for a mac were BFG Tech Nividia Geforce 285

but i understand that’s been discontinued ? how does adobe not know that ? i’ve found a brand new 285 … will it still work (optimally) with production premium cs5.5 or do i have to go with the 4000 ?

That’s basically the only current choice (and not a bad one at that) – quite a few clients of mine are using those on Mac Pros, in OSX 10.6 and Win7-64 in Bootcamp – I have yet to hear of any crashes or incompatibilities – yet I hear some people experience instability in Mac OSX:

I use GTX470 reflashed for mac – you can sfind it on ebay. Perfect. Much faster than 285.
