PPro equivalent to FCP Digital Cinema Desktop Preview?
Sorry to ask what surely was asked before, tried the search option but was overwelmed…
Does premiere pro provide any equivalent to FCP Digital Cinema Desktop Preview on secondary monitor?. How can activate it?.

Highlight the sequence you want to monitor, go to the Sequence menu, select Sequence Settings. In here, click Playback settings, then in the External Device pull-down menu, select the monitor you want to make full-screen video appear on. This function is sequence-specific, so if you switch back-and-forth from one timeline to another, you’ll have to do this a few times (it saves your settings, so you’ll only do it once). You can even create a sequence preset with this function already set.
Alternatively, go the Window menu, select Reference monitor, choose what it is you want to monitor, using the icon next to the Safe Margins switch (composite video, scopes, etc), and scale the window to whatever size you want, on whatever monitor you want.

A word of caution here, FCP is able to fluidly use the secondary display monitor as a full screen, raw, and preview monitor.
With Premiere pro it is not like that. When you jump from sequence to sequence you will need to trigger the SEQUENCE > PLAYBACK SETTINGS > EXTERNAL DEVICE > SECONDARY MONITOR to activate.
It does become cumbersome if your working with 10+ sequences and you want to preview on your 2nd monitor. Also there seems to be no way to make that string of commands into a HOTKEY.

I have 4th monitor set-up for full-screen preview, and it never switches off when I jump from sequence to sequence, or from source to program. Even Trim switches seamlessly (I just tested, while typing this, to make sure). In addition, if you set up as a sequence preset to always make monitor x the external device, you never have to go in to the Playback Settings again (unless you want to switch it off).
If I misunderstood, please let me know.

Hmm… In my case, i have a project with different resolutions on several sequences. When i move that FULL HD sequence into an SD sequence that is the time that the secondary monitor goes out. Or when sequence a is full HD, then sequence b is SD, and when i move one from the other the screen goes out as well.
How is yours working?

I just opened an HD sequence (720p), then added a new DV NTSC sequence, and dropped a clip into it. Switching back and forth, and my 4th monitor doesn’t blink…always stays full-screen on whatever sequence I jump to.
I then repeated the process on my B system, and it worked the same. Both use nVidia cards…dual Quadro cards in the 1st system, and dual GTS cards in the 2nd. Drivers are up-to-date on both systems. It’s worked like this since Premiere Pro 7.0 (CS 1).
