  adobe premiere cs3 problems with the footage

  hi there…
  i’m running adobe premiere CS3 on my sony vaio intel core 2 duo 1.83 GHz and 1GB of RAM with windows XP. i have a sony V1 hdv mini dv camera.i try to capture the 1080i, 25f footage from the camera and the capture window turns blue and i can’t see the footage. i turn off ilink but it doesn’t work.Nevertheless the files are saving in the hard drive D that i want to but when i playback this files i see stuttering in everything that moves into the frames.
  what can i do…

  Hi Elias,
  First of all, the capture window is blue because you can’t monitor HDV as you ingest it. That’s just the way it is. If your footage is suttering on playback it could be a couple of things.

  1. You don’t have enough RAM. 1 GB is woefully inadequate for video editing.
  2. You might be playing the files off your system drive instead of a separate hard drive. You need two drives, minimum, to edit video. You also might have too slow a hard drive to edit with.

  Where are your files stored?

  To add to kevins comments, try setting playback to draft.

  Right click over the program monitor and choose playback…set to draft.

  The lower quality video playback is only for playback purposes. It doesn’t affect the original footage. 🙂
