    Hi all!

I am looking for some suggestions on export settings for a sequence in premiere (1280×720). I have a mix of HD and SD footage with some after effects elements as well. I am looking to export to a .wmv that’s around 25mb. Ive been reducing the frame size (usualy half), using 1 pass CBR, dropping audio quality..all that stuff. But the final render either is too poor of quality or is estimated at up to 2 hours of render time for a 7 min video! I am just looking for some suggestions as i do not want to wait 2 hours for a render that may be too big of a file size to use. I am running Win7 with CS5 on a Lenovo ThinkStaion D20 with 12 gb ram and 2 TB hard drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi James,

Unfortunately, WMV is a dying breed and hasn’t been updated for many years. My recommendation would be H.264 as an alternative for quality at a lower bit rate.

If you have to use WMV, then you’ll have to account for noise and fast movement in your footage. I would stick with VBR 2 pass and a minimum of 7 Mb/s

As for render time, that could be due to filters in the timeline.
