  Editing Sony avchd in CS5

  I have just changed my Canon HDV camcorder for a Sony HDR CX550 avchd model. From the first editing test that I have completed in Premiere CS5 it turns out that playing a footage on the timeline before rendering it results in a somewhat important lack of fluidity. Fortunatly, after the timeline has been rendered the same footage can be used in an other sequence and appear as fluid as an mpeg footage. My question is, do I need to pre-render all the footages before I can use them smoothly in a project? Is there a method to do the pre-rendering on a batch basis? Thank you for your assistance.
