  Firewire to usb cable not recognized to capture ?

  I just got another laptop with CS5 installed , my other computers all have firewire inputs this laptop does not have firewire or smart or express card slot. I bought a Firewire to usb cord but when hoked up to DVX100 the computer pings letting me know its connected but it is not recognized when clicking capture in Premiere pro ?

  Thanks in advance for any help or ideas…

  Hi Scott,

  Not sure where you were able to purchase that cable, but I doubt this would ever work without specialized software or hardware.

  DV stream can only be sent from Firewire to Firewire.

  To capture to USB, the signal has to be re-compressed in realtime, and of course that means further degradations in quality.

  There is this solution, but the reviews seem to agree with me…
