    All our Apple iMacs are running through our network bounded by Active Directory and Open Directory.
    We have installed Adobe CS5 Pro onto the Macs but whenever our students \ limited network accounts try to open Premiere it freezes and crashes.

    At the new project pop-up window we get the message the “scratch disks are write protected or unavailable, do you want to save to your documents folder” we click Yes, the New Sequence pop up window appears, then Premiere crashes!

    Has anybody had similar issues or know a fix \ workaround to get it working in a network environment?

    Hi Dave,

    Have you tried setting the scratch disks to a local folder instead?

    This sure sounds like a permission issue with the limited accounts (Read only)

    Hi Vince,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Yes we have tried setting everything to a local folder, which they have access to read&write to.
    This is with them logged on as their network accounts?
    Its still looking to write the plist & preference files to their home areas but scratch disks set to local! Still no luck!

    Hi Dave,
    have you had any luck with the issue?
    I have exactly the same problem as you, my workaround is a local account on 90 mac’s we have. Reply from Adobe, is that PPro is not a network program as it needs to write lot of small cache files over the network. I think it is a very poor excuse!
    It is pain!
