  Ugh! Why can’t I scale down 1440 x 1080 with PAR 1.33

  I’m totally lost! I have HD footage captured in Premiere. The capture defaults to 1440/1080 with a PAR of 1.33

  I’m trying to scale this down now to edit and use on the web, but every dimension I’ve tried has a different physical size that is not in ratio to the original. It looks morphed!!!

  I’m still a novice but I think 1440/1080 is 4:3 with a PAR of 1.33. When I change to PAR to square pixels I’m able to keep a 4:3 ratio and/or a 16:9 ratio. The problem is when I change it to square pixels the physical size of the scaled version is morphed. When I keep the PAR of 1.33 I can get a scaled down aspect ration of 4:3 or 16:9.

  I feel like I’m going in circles with this!!! Can anyone help me through this mess?? I just want to take my very large video capture and make it smaller without changing the original width to height ratio!!

  You are correct, you need square pixels for the web, 1.0 PAR.

  For SD resolution,try 864×480, this will produce a good 16:9 image.
