  Premiere Pro CS4 Sequence and Export Settings

  Hey,

  I know theres a few threads on this already but I need help.

  I have my Canon 550d raw footage transcoded to the Avid DNxHD codec through Mpeg Streamclip.

  I’ve tried using the presets ‘HDV1080p24’ and ‘XDCAM EX 1080p 24p (HQ)’ and yes they let me edit but the preview window is not 1920×1080 and when I export it, it doesn’t render as 1920×1080 either.

  What settings do I select in PPro CS4? What settings for both project and sequence?

  Also, what should my render/export settings be?

  Hi Nathanael,

  Well, HDV is 1440×1080 (it does use square pixels). But you can choose 1920 x 1080 as your export as long as you pick square pixels (PAR 1).

  What format are exporting to?

  I made a custom preset called ‘DSLR’ with all the correct settings –

  Editing Mode – Desktop
  Timebase – 23.976
  Frame size – 1920×1080
  Pixel aspect ratio – Square Pixels (1.0)
  Fields – No Fields (Progressive Scan)

  etc etc

  Is this correct? Cause when I click ok and begin the sequence it still doesn’t display full 1920×1080..?

  My export settings are:

  Format – h.264
  Preset – HDTV 1080p 24 High Quality

  This is done through Adobe Media Encoder. And in the export preview window it also doesn’t show in 1920×1080 even with the frame size at 1920×1080.

  Hey Vince,

  I figured something out. The footage that isn’t displaying in 1920×1080 was shot at 60p.

  I imported footage that was shot at 24p and it works perfectly.

  Do you know why this is? I mean, 60p works seamlessly in Vegas which is a consumer product and it doesn’t in Premiere which is Pro.

  This is because the 550 when using 60FPS only shoots in 720, not 1080.
