  Cross-Post – PreEdit – Work for you?

  Hi,

  Cross-posted this in the FCP forum.

  I recently came across PrEdit, which looks like a potentially amazing
  piece of software.

  I currently don’t have Premiere CS5 [which, from what I understand, is the optimal way to work with these files] – so I can’t fully test it.
  I wanted to know if any of you have worked with it, and if so, what it was like.

  I’m about to start cutting a long-form documentary with a bazillion hours of footage and being able to do paper-cuts will save a lot of time.

  Hi Wayne,
  I’m one of the two co-developers of prEdit, and we do think it’s amazing.

  Right now you do need the CS5 tools to either analyze the speech, or use it to tie together a human transcription, but that will change with the 1.5 release at the end of January.

  I am using it (in my spare time) to cut a documentary we shot over summer. It is the easiest way I know to create order out of chaos with a documentary.

  Hi Phillip,

  Thanks so much for writing – I have to tell you – from what I can tell, your product looks amazing!

  Now, any chance I can pretty-pretty please try out a Beta version of the new software – the more I think about this, the more I can see this product could save us a whole world of pain with this documentary I’m about to start cutting.

  We’re not quite advanced enough today on the new version – still getting example transcripts for our sample media to work with. (We have had greta co-operation from 3playmedia.com fwiw) Email me direct and we’ll hook you up as soon as it’s ready for testing – definitely before the middle of January as we plan on launching Jan 27th.
