  • Windows 7 says “no driver” for two different cameras

My external hard drive failed and I have to re-stream all of my Mini-dv footage from two separate events. I am using Premiere CS5 on a Windows 7 machine but I have a problem: The first camera I plugged in, the Panasonic AG-DVX100, Windows said it couldn’t find a driver for and I wasn’t able to use it. So I borrowed a friend’s little handheld camera, the CanonZR90, to stream it in: same problem. I checked the website and the ZR90 SHOULD be compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. It recognizes the devices but won’t “install” them on my computer. What the heck could be the problem?????

Did you use the DVX100 before on this machine? if not you may have to go into the device manager and change the driver for the IEEE1394 controller, try whats called the legacy driver

Thanks for the suggestion! I will try that. No, I haven’t tried using it on this machine, and I just recently installed the firewire driver. Perhaps that is the problem, though it does recognize the camera, just not the driver.

There are no drivers to install for firewire cams, they are included in DirectX

Dude, you are a friggin GENIUS! I changed the driver and it now recognizes all of the cameras I plug into it. You are a total lifesaver. You just saved me hours and hours of headache! Thank you so much!

You’re welcome, good you got it on the first shot, sometimes you have to play with manuf descreet drivers for the firewire chips
