Can I change the aspect ratio from what I started my project in? For example I started in 1920X1080 but now I decided to change the aspect ratio to 1920X807 and I need to re-frame each clip as well. I know this is done through sequence but I’m unsure how its done cause creating a new sequence will leave the project timeline without any clips do I copy and paste into the new aspect ratio timeline?

What is the purpose of the aspect ratio change, and what is final delivery format? Perhaps you are looking for a more cinematic widescreen look, but if for instance you will want to create a Blu-ray disc at some point, then it would need to be the standard 1920×1080 (and you could simply add letterboxing). Even for the web, you may want to just continue editing full HD, but simply crop at the time of export.

Please let us understand your goals and then recommendations can be made

    Thanks

hi, yes it’s just for wide screen aesthetics.
output is 1920X817 24P(2.3501 Aspect ratio) I’d like to frame each shot according to taste before rendering to custom aspect ratio then I’d like to output for the web (Vimeo)
I was able to do this easily in Vegas in project panel but I haven’t figured out how it’s done in PP5. here’s a sample of what want to do.

When in the CS5 Sequence Settings screen (where you choose the project settings), go to the General tab and you can then start changing the frame size, frame rate, etc. to customize the sequence setting, then at the lower left, there is a “Save Preset” button. Editing mode should be “Desktop” when you start to modify settings.

If “Scale to Frame Size” is NOT enabled for your clips (right click to check), then the 1920×1080 clip should show up centered on the screen, actual size in the smaller project, and you can use Adobe Motion effect controls to change the X and Y positioning as needed to frame subject.
