  • Transfering projects and files between Mac and PC both running CS5

Posted by Rex Summerfield on December 8, 2010 at 8:42 pm

I’m running CS5 on a PC and a friend of mine wants to buy a MAC and run CS5 on it. What issues will I have trying to transfer projects and files back and forth between the two platforms both running CS5?

    Thanks

I honestly haven’t had that much experience with cross-platform exchanges of PPro files, but I am guessing fonts may be an issue. Also, if either one of you decides to transcode the footage before working on it (e.g. your mac buddy may not have a fast nVidia card to take advantage of PPro’s Mercury Playback engine), you have to decide upon a common format. Although PPro can decode ProRes, you can’t encode it on Windows (AFAIK). Another deal-breaker might be the plugins you may have used.

    Trial and error, I guess…

Path names within projects will also be an interesting open question on transfer.
