  ‘the video bit depth of this file is unsupported’

  CS5 Premiere Pro
  I’m trying to import a jpeg that I’ve created from a Photoshop file into my PP project.
  I get an error message ‘the video bit depth of this file is unsupported’
  The metadata tells me the file is ‘Bit depth 8’ – could anyone tell me what it is supposed to be and how I change it?
  Or do I have my PP project set up incorrectly?

  I tried to import a psd file and an error message came up:
  ‘the importer reported a generic error’

  Anyone have any clues what’s going on?

  Hi Angela,

  I would reopen it in Photoshop, male sure it is in RGB mode, and save again, there could be something wrong with the headers.

  Unfortunately it’s not terribly useful to check the asset properties in PPro, it says that everything is “8 bit” in the “properties” (it’s a bug in the software).

  Bridge might be a better place to check it.
