  • I/O Error with Media Encoder CS4

Posted by Guy Sclanders on November 18, 2010 at 12:11 pm

We have not have a single problem exporting our CS4 edits via Media Encoder until this morning. At first the encoder popped up with an error log that the source footage could not be found. So we checked, as our machines are networked and pull footage off the server. However in Premier the footage is all there.
Then, when we tried to export from another edit job, it came up with an I/O Error. So we took the same edit file to another computer on the network and is came up with the same thing. So we moved all the source material to a portable hard-drive, plugged in my laptop and tried to export the same material. Suddenly an I/O Error. Just this morning I exported another project no problem. Now, no matter what project I hope, even those from last year, I/O Error.
So we totally uninstalled all the Adobe software and started again. Same problem. Do I have a ghost in the machine or are we just being stupid?

I would try clearing the media cache first in your preferences. Have you tried importing the project straight from AME?

Are you sure the server is blameless?

The transfer to the local drive could have been affected by a server anomally…

It seems odd that it would cross projects…and drives… These alternate projects you tried… They have no media in common?

    Hi,

Will try the cache thing. But to answer Tim, we literally pulled all the media from the server onto an external HDD, took it to a non-networked machine and tried, and it stuffed up the whole suite.

I’m now thinking that maybe it’s a virus, but it would be pretty specific to corrupt Premiere alone…

Thanks for the feedback thus far, will be working on the problem again today, and hopefully will find a solution!
