Hello, I’m trying to export a 5 min video with the Youtube Widescreen HD setting. I’ve got about 80GB of hard drive space left and set the scratch disk to an external with 1TB. However, when I export the video to an external, my internal hard drive space slowly starts filling up to the point where I run out at around 40% of the rendering. What gives? Should a 5 min video gobble up 80GB of hard drive space?
    Thank you.

    Short answer. No.

Keep in mind HDD should maintain 20% free space to run efficiently. 80gig from 1000gig is not healthy.

What system ate you using, PPro version, HDD setup, project and media and export properties. Did u change the preset?

Hello, thank you for the swift response.

    iMac intel duo 2.4GHZ
    4GB RAM
    External 1TB (about 600GB free.)
    HDD 500GB (80GB free)
    PPro CS5 Standard
Export to Youtube Widescreen HD (no settings have been changed)
    00:05:37 running time.

I know it’s not the ideal machine, but never had issues with CS4, even with significantly longer videos. I’ve never seen my disk space fill up like it does with CS5. For reference, at 6% export, it has used 2GB of disk space. At 10%, it estimates 35 mins to complete. At 40%, it’s at 3.5 hours.

    Thank you.
