reinstalled priemere now everything is unrendered
Posted by Kylie Laston on November 10, 2010 at 7:13 pmHi I was having issues with dynamic link freezing when trying to dynamic link to encore. So I reinstalled both of them to see if
it would help… but now I have an even bigger problem..
my two hour movie is completly unrendered.. it was completely
rendered an in the green before the reinstall.rerendering everything would make me miss a deadline and
would take forever..why did this happen and can I fix it?

November 11, 2010 at 3:09 amMost likely, your preview folder was changed in your preferences.
Try changing it back to the folder where your preview files are currently stored. Please note that you should do that in another project first, then open the “original” file.

November 11, 2010 at 6:08 pmWhere is preferences and where in preferences do you make that choice?

November 11, 2010 at 7:15 pmWell, I actually should have said project settings.
That’s under Project > Project Settings > Scratch Disks
Set the video preview and audio preview path to where they are currently stored.

November 11, 2010 at 8:24 pmThis didn’t work.. I can clearly see my preview
files are safe and still there.. but my video
remains unrendered in the project.. -

November 11, 2010 at 10:47 pmThis didn’t work.. my rendered files are all in the folder.. I’m sure I’m doing it right.. I just don’t understand why the video registers as unrendered in the project

November 13, 2010 at 8:29 amIsn’t the project asking to be relinked to the preview files?
…or have you saved the project since reinstalling?

November 13, 2010 at 7:52 pmI have not saved since reinstalling.. out of fear that it might be perminatly unrendered.. it is not asking to be relinked, it is just accepting that the footage is unrendered

November 13, 2010 at 8:49 pmWell…if the project hasn’t been saved, then it should come up asking where the preview files are…
I’m assuming in the uninstall/reinstall, the link to the established Media Cache was probably severed.
The bottom line is that preview files aren’t permanent…they’re temporary. They’re stored like cached web pages you frequent and so forth…and they’re usually designed for speed over quality.
The good news is that because of this, most encoding in the Adobe suite isn’t done from the previews anyway…so if you’re dynamic linking the sequence into Encore and letting Encore do the transcode to the DVD format (MPEG2 or H264), not having the preview files is not going to make much difference.

November 14, 2010 at 1:39 amI solved the problem, when I reinstalled it did not reinstall my update from 4.00 to a later version of cs4.. when I reinstalled the update as well it then recognized the rendered files.. there is another problem though.. dynamic link still consistently freezes everytime I try to link a project from priemere pro to encore.. or the other way around.. it always locks on 50 percent during the loading..
any fixes for this? -

November 14, 2010 at 4:43 amGlad you solved it. You could try loading the project from Encore instead. It’s likely a cache issue, but I’ m not gonna tell you to delete your render files:-)
