  drop and gaps in rendered mpeg2

  Hi all!

  I have a 13 min. video I had to export to mpeg2.
  using premiere pro cs5 I rendered from the timeline both with ppro and media encoder. the final video has random “freezes” or dropped frames. each time I render I have a few of them in different places.

  I tried rendering to uncompressed AVI. the AVI came out perfect.
  then I used media encoder to convert the AVI to mpeg2, again the same problem.

  I finally took the avi to another computer and converted it using vegas. that worked fine.

  what might be the problem?
  where should I check?

  No, the source came from mini DV
  When I rendered to mpeg I watched it on the computer from the hard drive.

  I should note that the mpeg file exhibited the problems on other computers too. it doesn’t seem to be a playback problem but an encoding problem.

  If you think its a encoding you ought to describe the computer you are trying to encode with and the settings.

  the system is a PC
  intel i7 CPU
  win 7 64 bit
  6 GB ram
  video data on a raid 0 array

  using CS5 Production premium
  rendered to mpg2 using the render to PAL DV High quality preset.

  is there any detail I missed?

  Does Ppro have the latest update (v 5.0.2)?

  Hi!

  I have exactly the same problem:

  Intel core 2 quad
  Windows 7 64 bit
  8gb RAM
  Lacie D2 quadra HD
  Premiere CS5 5.0.1

  It worked fine for months; but suddenly there appeared these drops in the MPG2 render.

  I´ll try to update to 5.0.2, but since it worked fione for months with 5.0.1, it does not seem to be a version problem…

  I’m sorry to say that I have not solved the problem.
  Xabier, who also had this problem, tried reinstalling his entire system and couldn’t solve it. he went back to using CS4.

  I don’t need to render mpg2 files that often, so I just render it out to uncompressed AVI take it to another computer that runs Vegas and use Vegas to convert the file to mpg.

  FYI I did try to render the AVI in premiere and the mpg still has problems. so that rules out that the problem is in the project file itself
