    Hi Everyone,

    (First Time Poster).

Ok, I have CS5 and each time I Try to ‘export to tape’ I have a 5 second video freeze at exactly every minute into my video. No matter how long or complicated the video may be it still freezes for 5 seconds at each minute of the video.

Note: This is ONLY when I try to export to tape.

I have a new HP Tower with Intel Core I7, Windows Home Premium 64bit, ATI HD Radeon 5770 1gb graphics, 8 GB Ram. Also a second Internal WD Black 1TB Drive strictly for editing with 752 gigs free on it.

Brought home from work a Sony DSR-45 deck and tried two different firewire cables. (FireWire set to legacy).

I’m only using SD Footage and the most complicated effect is a 15 frame cross dissolve and perhaps a photoshop lower third.

I heard that it could be that I ‘need’ an NVidia Graphics card or someone else said that IF I had an ASUS Motherboard, (don’t know), he has heard that some have a glitch and can play in but have trouble exporting out with it’s FireWire and that he changed his out to a different brand and now no more issues.

(Again I have no clue about this but don’t want to buy a New Video card and/or replace the FireWire port on my 5 week old machine because of a ‘Might be’).

The Adobe Forums weren’t much help, they said- what I already did- to watch the background processes and stop or limit Windows Indexing, etc.

I have NO issues when Exporting to Encore and creating a DVD, Exporting Media, or even capturing footage.

My Sequence Settings are all to External Device and to Audio from External Device, etc. I chose ‘Hardware If Supported”, “Software”, and “None”. I’m running 5.02 and have all CS5 and Windows Updates.

I’m going to try a Sony PD-150 camera that I brought home from work today and will also try a Panasonic DV 200 just to try to see if it’s a ‘Sony issue’.

My last computer was 32 bit Vista with a Windows 7 Upgrade. NVidia 8400gs and AMD 2.8 processor. I had CS3 on there and all day long I could Export to tape. I also have CS3 on this machine but BOTH versions of Premiere have a 5 second freeze every 60 seconds into the tape.

When I don’t even have a tape in the deck, but it is turned on and plugged in via FireWire, it still has the freeze. If I have no deck plugged in and just leave the FireWire plugged into the back of the tower, I can play that same sequence back with no freezing or stuttering.

This Deck was used recently and, though you never know, I still doubt that it’s the deck.

I even ordered a 3rd, 6pin to 4pin firewire cable that should arrive by Monday.

Q: Does anyone have any issues trying to Export to Tape in CS5?

Before leaving work I turned on one of the Mac Pros and used CS5 5.01 and easily captured and edited and then Exported to tape footage, so why can’t I do that at home…

This happens when I try to use CS3 as well which I installed first and CS5 which was installed a few weeks later.

I make sure each Sequence is set to DV and Standard… Everything on Edit Preferences I looked at including Device Control. Looked through Adobe’s site, YouTube, Adobe Help Forums, Chad Perkins on Twitter, Lynda.com, etc.

I tried to Import existing video footage with a ‘Test Sequence’ and by Capturing footage but still that Freezing for 5 seconds every 60 seconds.

If anyone can help me find a fix or workaround I’d really Appreciate it. Perhaps it is just user error on my part but I think that somewhere along the line there is an issue that needs to be fixed ASAP.

    Sorry for the length.

    🙂

Do you have a virus scanner running? If so remove it.

    Hi,

Yes, I use AVG Free and installed Spy Sweeper. I had used AVG on the last computer with no worries but I’ll temporarily disable Spy Sweeper to see if I get any better results. Depending on what happens I’ll also temporarily disable AVG.

I’m not actually scanning for viruses at the same time but yes they are running all the time.

Wow, I hope it’s something simple like this because Export to Tape is the most Important thing that I need to do after, of course, editing.

    Thanks for your Reply Sir!

I’ll let everyone know of the results tonight after I try this out.

    🙂

    Hi,

I removed both SpySweeper and AVG and it didn’t make a difference. Unfortunately I think that it’s my built in FireWire port that is losing connectivity and since I have no open PCI slots I cannot get a new firewire card. All I have is one PCI E x4 and one PCI E x16.

Therefore, unless I’m missing something, all I can do is send this back to HP, as it’s still within the warranty, and wait weeks for a whole new Motherboard since this is a built in one, and HOPE that it fixes the problem.

I’m going to try the Repair/Modify or if need be Uninstall/Reinstall but since it happens on CS3 AND CS5 I don’t neccesarily know why I’m doing it. I guess just to try all things out.

Again even if there is no tape in the deck or camera I see my timeline footage in the Viewfinder or lcd on the deck but then the screen goes blue for 5 seconds or so and then ‘comes back’ so that I can see the timeline again on the deck or camera. So wouldn’t that suggest a Connectivity issue more than a program issue??

Thanks Much for Your Help and I’ll keep working on it. IF anyone has any ideas for a fix or workaround Please let me know.

    Take Care!

    Lee.

PS. Perhaps when I reinstall CS5 I’ll keep it on 5.01 instead of doing the 5.02 update… Again just trying any and everything. 🙂

    Hey Everyone,

One last thing that I’d like to add is that I spoke with another person today and he mentioned that his buddy has the exact same problem that I do. If you go through the boards here and at the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 Forums there are Many people who are having this issue as well. (Yes not everyone)

So the bottom line is that there is a Bug in Premiere that is effecting some users- myself included- that needs to be fixed and not just blamed on Windows 7 indexing, background programs, or needing 4 hard drives on your system, etc.

Adobe will need to address this so that we can properly use what we purchased.

My next task is to uninstall/reinstall and try to use Version 5.01 to see if that makes a difference, but I Politely ask Adobe to look into this and release an update or a patch, something- anything- for the many users that have been experiencing this problem.

Seems to use the FireWire fine for capturing, (Importing), but has issues when going OUT of the firewire and into an external device.

    Adobe… Please!

    Thanks

    Lee.
