  New here – and pulling my hair out over H.264!

  Hello, all…

  We are trying to figure out the most efficient way to export a 1-hour program (NTSC, standard def) for FTP distribution.

  I have been trying Quicktime with the H.264 codec. I also need to go 720×486 to preserve closed-captioning.

  We are on Premiere Pro CS3 with Matrox Axio. The render time for such a file is over 3 hours, and the file itself is over 8GB! The FTP takes another 3-4 hours. At that rate, I could make a tape dub and DRIVE it to Daytona!

  Any suggestions? Thanks!

  I’ve seen a few dedicated portable H264 recorders that offer SDI/HDSDI input.

  This would make it as simple as recording the SDI out from the Axio.

  Or you could get something like a Matrox Mini with Max Option.

  I think this could accelerate the output from PPro…might need to be CS4 or later though.
