export 90-min video for Encore DVD
At wits end trying to produce a DVD and my client needs it tomorrow! 90-minute movie shot in widescreen HD with two video and two audio tracks. First export chose NTSC high quality widescreen and successfully created menu and burned DVD, BUT when I viewed the DVD the movie looked squished and not 16:9 shape. The settings had said output would be 720×480, so I thought if I did a custom preset with 720×405 (actual 16:9) that it would work, but then the export choices seemed to only allow me to export as mpg audio/video stream instead of mpeg2 with separate audio. Although the estimated size when I was going through the settings said less than 3G, the resulting mpg is almost 4.5G which, with a menu, seems to be too big to allow me to burn a DVD. Any suggestions would be most welcome! Desperately seeking help – thanks – Jeanne

in your Encore project, set the pixel aspect to “widescreen (1.2)”.
NTSC DVD-video is _always_ 720×480. 16:9 and 4:2 are determined by the pixel ratio.-Jeff

Encore export settings included widescreen which is why I’ve been experimenting with different export settings, but now I cannot get Premiere Pro to do another export – every time I go to Export Media, PP crashes 🙁

You could try importing the Premiere project from Encore instead and see if that solves the crashing issue.

Thanks for the suggestion – I opened Encore and don’t understand or see a way to import a PP file…? Talked to an industry friend earlier and think we determined that my PP file has become corrupt :`( …he suggested opening the project in After Effects then exporting from there. Well, the video exported fine but the audio came in with a double off-sync echo. So now I’m trying his other suggestion which was to import the PP file into a new PP project. It seems to be working (still laying down the audio) – I don’t really understand how because it’s coming in as a solid audio/video timeline, not as 2 video and audio tracks (original footage from 2 cameras), but if this works I’ll sort it out later. Would like to find a way to recover all my edits/cuts without having to recreate it, but then again if I can get a good quality DVD I might just call it a wash. Will post results in a little bit….

In Encore, go to File > Adobe Dynamic Link > Import premiere Sequence.

Thanks so much – I’m going to try that method too; in the meantime, I was able to use the video that I exported from After Effects, and export a good audio track from a new Premiere Pro file. Then I placed the After Effects video export and the new PP audio export into Encore, linked up the menu and it all came out good. Just in time… Thanks for the support!
