Clips Play Extremely Fast
I’ve brought in some footage to CS4 and the video plays extremely fast while the audio plays at normal speed.
I’ve opened the same footage on another copmpter with Premere 2 and everything plays just fine.
The footage was shot with a Panasonic HVX200 and recorded with a Firestore FS100.
Is there a setting I’m missing in CS4? Any insight as to where to begin would be helpful.

Try restarting and creating a new project.
What settings are you using?

I’ve restarted and created a new project without any luck.
I’m using the DV-NTSC Standard 48K Setting. This is SD footage. All of this footage plays fine in Premiere 2 on another computer.This may be related: HD footage we’ve brought into this computer gives us an extremely long clip…. We shot a 1 minute clip but comes into CS4 as a 15 minute long clip. When it plays to the 1 minute it freezes on the last frame for 14 more minutes. I’ve also seen this happen on a Mac Pro running CS4 as well. In all occasions the footage was shot on a Panasonic HVX200 connected to a Firestore FS100 recorder.

So, that it recorded as DV, DVC Pro, or DVCPro HD?
Make sure you pick the appropriate sequence.

I use HDVsplit to capture and have had random occurrences of PP CS4 setting the frame rate for a clip erroneously to 100 fps. The project is in Sony/HDV 50 at 25 fps. Thus the affected clip plays 4x the rate of everything else. The other anomaly is the sound portion of the clip is at normal speed but only the first quarter of the true length is available because the video/clip is only a quarter of its true duration. The same clip opens in every other app correctly. I haven’t found a cure, only workarounds.

That sounds very similar to what I’m experiencing. Clips recorded on the Firestore and brought into CS4 play fast while the audio plays at normal speed. This occurs in the preview monitor and also when edited into the timeline.
Clips not recorded with the Firestore play just fine. I wouldn’t be surprised if the video were playing at 100x speed like you are experiencing.What is your workaround? Any guesses as to why this is happening? Have you ruled anything out?
