I’m working on an edit with an associate who has CS4 and he is doing the colour correction and motion graphics of the edit. However, I now have CS5.

How best can I give him my timeline’s to edit (CS5 to CS4) and retain all attributes? (such as opacity, fades, etc.)

Saving as a MPEG is not an option as he would like the timeline to edit, we both have the same footage.

He is hesitant about upgrading to CS5 as he is unsure that his plugins for motion graphics will work in the new 64bit environment.

    here is a guess…

    try exporting as FCP XML

then he can import that into his CS4….

Ok that’s the only one we didn’t try yet. We have tried EDL but things like transitions and opacity (levels and blends) were not coming through. We tried AAF, a little better but some video was getting mixed up and showing the wrong footage in the wrong places.

I’m thinking we eventually will upgrade his system to CS5 once we know all the plugins he uses work for it. But for now, we can only hope that the XML format works.

Will let you know the results but thanks a lot.
