  • Saving quicktime files in a HD format?

Posted by Mikkell Khan on June 5, 2010 at 12:10 am

Hey guys, I’m working with someone who is using the Final Cut Studio 2 Suite to do some compositing and editing for me. He says he will work best with quicktime files. However, whenever I take my work to the Media Encoder, the quicktime format never gives me the option of saving the file as a HD mov file. It only gives me the option to save it as a SD or SD widescreen file which will not do.

Why can’t I save the quicktime file in it projects HD original format?

Also, if it is not possible, what is the best format I can give the file in for future editing?

    Thanks.

Choose H264 as the Quicktime codec and change the resolution to what ever you need.

This seems to be what I’m looking for. Thanks a lot man. Still don’t understand why the quicktime option by itself does not have the ability to save in HD though.
