Impression on CS5
Folks,
I only had CS5 for ~3wks, read a lot of online tutorial from Lynda.com and play a little bit around with various programs (with the production suite). Other programs I can’t commend too much because I never own them before. PremPro CS5 is really pretty solid to me. It has not crash once in the last 3 wks. I was able to render H.264 720p footage out a little under Real Time (very impressed, cause it used to take me 2-2.5x RT.) I am learning to love the Media Encoder (render multiples), however, I found render that way is significantly slower than rendering from PPro itself. Overall, I did not find significant changes in the use of CS5 vs CS3 that affect my workflow (I am just a video enthuisiast). Our workstation:
Intel Q6600 (Quad) OC to ~3.2GHz
Windows7 Professional
8G DDR2 COSAIR RAM
Nvida GT240 1G (hack for GPU Mercury accel)
Multiple SATA HDDsP.S.:
1. Bridge CS5 is also improved, I am able to navigate fairly steady and fast.2. The only downside to me is my previous purchased CS3 plugins do not work at all. Some offer free upgrade (pixelan) while others is shooting to gain on us (perhaps not even with some sort of discount – ProDAD). Hollywood FX does not work.
Best wish,
Perry
