same settings but different field orders on outputted files…
Hi all,
I’m outputting a series of HD Mpegs using the same 1080i PAL 25 default (but sliding quality from 4 to 5).By default it is set to interlace upper fields first.When I import 5 clips I have exported (from 5 different timelines but using the same settings) into my authoring program, the default field order settings for all of them are interlace top fields first EXCEPT ONE… where it says interlace bottom fields first.
When i burn all 5 to a dvd the one file with the differing field order appears to stutter and blue etc as you’d expect from a field order issue. I have tried changing it back to interlace top fields first in the authoring program but that also looks horrid. All I can do is change it to progressive but then the quality of that file is noticeably less than the other 4.
This has happened once in the past and I never sorted it so now its happened again I’d LOVE to get this corrected…

Anyone have any idea? Really don’t want to use the progressive chapter and I only have a few days to finish it… 🙁

Export the mpeg again from Pro.

hmmm an interesting development… there is 5 secs or so of slow motion in the affected chapter (when doing this in premiere I chose ‘field options – always deinterlace’) This part plays back fine with no jittering.
Come to think of it, the other time this has happened has been when there was slow motion in the chapter as well.
Other than re-exporting the mpeg with every clip set to always deinterlace does anyone have any ideas?

for any who are interested, i imported the original HD mpeg into premiere and cut before and after the slow mo section that displayed fine. I then chose to de-interlace all of the footage before and after the clip and re exported the mpeg.
Also my dvd encoder still picked it up as having reversed fields, as they’re consistent throughout the mpeg it now plays ok on the DVD.
