  (Mac)Premiere Pro CS3 – Unsupported compression(Pentax K-X)

  Hi, I have a PENTAX K-X, wich films 720p HDV, at 24FPS. The output file is an AVI. Now the quality is great. I’ve used it in After Effects, and no problem has come up, appart from the fact, that its not used to actually do video editing. When I create a new Premiere project, there are many setting to choose from, I tried HDV 720p whif all different custom settings, and I tried many others, but nothing seems to change the fact that when I import an AVI clip, Premiere pops up with “Unsupported compression”. I’ve searched for this, and found some answers, some codecs to download, but only for Windows. Is there a solution for Mac on Premiere Pro CS3?

  Hi Aimé,

  If it’s not supported, that’s just it, no setting changes will fix that.

  If it’s supported in After Effects, just import the footage then add it to the render queue and render as 1280×720 square, lossless with audio.

  Run the file through GSpot and see which codec your missing.
  My guess its Mjepg.
