How can I capture from Hard Disc Camera?
I am a weding video editor and I got this video which was recorded with Sony DCR-SR80. The thing is that I am not familiar on how to capture from Hard Disc cameras. The camera doesn’t have FireWire port. It has USB. I could see video clips in a folder called “100PNV01” under the folder “MP_ROOT” in the camera’s Hard Disc and I tried to import the clips but these clips don’t have any audio when I import them to Premier Pro. I copied the clips on to the Hard dis on my PC and then tried the importing. How do I capture the video to Premier Pro? I would appreciate any response.

I believe that the video format in that camera has “muxed” audio, which means that audio and video are on the same clip, and Premiere Pro doesn’t know how to deal with it. You have to somehow convert that file format to give you separate audio. I think CS4 PP may have fixed this problem, but for now you will have to find a way to convert the files – the audio is there.
Do a Google search on muxed and Premiere Pro. Good luck!

What version of Premiere are you using? It is likely that the audio is Dolby. C4 can handle that, but CS3 can be made to handle that.

The video is Mpeg2 NTSC and audio is AC3, the best way to import is with the software sony supplied.
